Howdy folks,

I just joined this site after discovering it at the weekend.

I will have some other questions in due course of which I will post in due course and within the appropriate forum. But for now I do not seem to be able to UPLOAD a personal AVATAR? It will not drag&drop, and I also tried UPLOADING the photo to Google_Drive and PASTING in the LINK. There does not seem to be a BROWSE/UPLOAD_FILE option either?

Perhaps one of the MODERATORS might be kind enough to UPLOAD it for me if I forward the IMAGE to them? Or else, here is the LINK to DRIVE:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Byepp ... WtWemZNcEk

Many thanks in advance for any assistance offered . . .

Best,

Paul David Seaman (United Kingdom)

trial and error is the way to success

Hi Olian,

It definitely won't work for me as I have been trying for two months now!

Cheers,

Paul

this from the faq section
best i can do

» Can I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.

Hi Olian,

Thanks a lot.

I emailed Tech Support and the Administration Team have informed me that it is NOT possible for me to upload an avatar.

So, it seems they have two sets of rules for members on here (which is not a very good sign to say the least)!

Cheers,

Paul

Hi again,

I am afraid I really do not understand what you are meaning here? Or what your comment has to do in relation to UPLOADING an AVATAR?

But I appreciate your response anyway.

I think the best thing for me to do is to simply delete my entire profile and take my custom elsewhere.

Thanks

Greetings ... only lurk here occasionally so sorry for the delayed welcome.

Uploading pics to this site is simple, hosting them is as well and I'll try to help:

Open a photobucket account and upload your photos there.

when you click on the photo to view it, copy click on the IMG code. It will automatically copy to your computer.

Now, click on the IMG block at the top of the editing box and paste your code there.

Will look something like the green code in this box (won't be green when you post it though):

Code:
[URL=http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/taoGdlO/media/summer_spree_2015_zpsseip1ikh.jpg.html][IMG]http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb443/taoGdlO/summer_spree_2015_zpsseip1ikh.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

That code will give you this picture:

Hope this helps. If not, PM me and I'll try to help further.

Photobucket is free, but the forum has some crazy "700 pixel width" limit.

Probably running an ancient version of the PHPBB software. The modern versions allow larger images to be resized on the page and pop out in a lightbox when clicked.

Be well ... from a former Jazz/Rock/Funk fusion musician.

Hi Mr Music ChiefTan,

Thank you very much indeed.

I have never heard of PhotoBucket before and so I will have to look into it and open an account . . .

Many thanks,

Paul
