Post subject:  Help with Native Symbology - Bear

This is an open question on Native American/American Indian imagery/symbology...I am trying to find help and information and if you can, I am truly appreciative.

I am going to get a tattoo of a grizzly bear paw or possibly the outline of a brown or grizzly bear...I found a few I like ...however, after displaying it, there has been some comments about its...origins (in particular, being Hopi...the tribal origins are neither here nor there...I have Native blood in me, or so the family "legend" goes...I am from New England and...well...the history of the Puritans and the Natives of that area [portions of my family were there from 1629 on] are sketchy though there is one verified and documented pair of my ancestors that were captured and spirited away to Canada during Grey Lock's/Dummer's War in the 1720s though I DOUBT they were old enough to father children - and the eldest became a frontier Indian fighter along the VT/NH border in King George's War 1744-1748...my Dad says we are Mohawk but...being from central MA, the Mohawk were just too far west and had no reason to visit our part of the colony...I am more inclined to think there is Wabanaki/Abanaki blood in us but...proof is hard to come by...but I digress).

What I want to know is...inside the two images...what does the internal images/symbols in the two drawings MEAN...if anything....

As a separate thought...as I have a general sense that my heritage is more likely Abenaki, if anyone could point me in the direction of items of a more traditional Abenaki feel, that would be great too. If not, knowledge is welcome =)
