There are many books available online ... free. This one you may find interesting:

Old Indian Legends

You can download the book from google so that it can be read offline. It is downloaded in PDF format so anyone with Adobe Reader or Foxit can enjoy.

Another "short story" of hers that I enjoyed was "Impressions of an Indian Childhood". I have the PDF's of this and others of her stories (now in the public domain) if anyone is interested, I'll post links to them to download from my website.
